The Nokia X1-00 has 61 days of standby time & it’s only US$48.
Yes you read that right. Talk time is about 13 hours, if you really need to talk that long. I think there’s no doubt Nokia makes the best entry level handsets. This as you might guess by now is just a basic phone that won’t give you your social networking fix as it doesn’t have an Internet browser despite the GPRS connection.
But this X1-00 might be a popular device to have when your’re having a small gathering or a picnic as it has a louder than average speaker. Apparently it is loud enough to rattle your window frames! Anyway, you can cramp thousands of songs because it has a microSD slot and it has FM radio. So I guess you can say this is a rather good iPod shuffle/nano option because it does have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack too. The X1-00 also has a flashlight built in which would come in handy if it gets too dark when you’re still going through the hills at Shahbandar or Tasek.
I think the most unusual - and probably a first on any phone - is that the X1-00 has up to five phone books? Why 5? Well since this phone is aimed at developing countries, there’s a good chance that one device is shared between an entire family or even neighbours. B$62 might not be much for us, but to some that can be a month’s salary and the long standby time is essential as they will probably have difficult access to electricity to charge the phone.
So all in all, this is a really clever phone. I’m definitely getting one. In orange of course.
